Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE MINDESS July 27, 1907 - May 25, 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Anne Mindess, just weeks before her 100th birthday. Anne was born in Korosten in the Ukraine, and passed away peacefully in Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Aaron. She is survived by her sons, Mervyn and Sidney (Joanne Melville); grandchildren, Katherine, Ruth and Robert, and great-grandchildren, Grant, Angela, Nikki and Noah, and by her sister Edith Poznanski. Anne immigrated to Canada in 1922, and lived in Winnipeg until 1997, when she moved to Vancouver. She was the mainstay of her extended family and in spite of her old world upbringing, she was very much a modern woman who refused to accept a secondary role in life. Throughout her life in Winnipeg, Anne was heavily involved in the Jewish Community, and in particular with the Peretz School. She was always willing to help those in need. She is remembered for her wisdom and her kindness. She was an exceptional observer of the human condition and was able to articulate thoughtful and insightful comments about those she met. She never said a mean word about anyone. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Louis Brier Home and Hospital for the wonderful care and support they provided during the last eight years of Anne's life. Funeral services were held in Winnipeg.
